What a frustrating accident! Well, I suppose they all are - lol.
Not my fault, the other car made an erratic and improper lane changing cutting over 3 lanes. The real kicker was that the other driver and his passenger were (admittedly) illegal immigrants, without licenses, driving a friend's car. I'm hoping that the car actually had a valid insurance policy, but haven't heard back from the insurance adjuster.
Course, my car was the one that suffered the most damage, at a quick glance it's probably about $1500 to $2000 worth of damage to my older model mini van. It's drivable, no one was hurt, and the kids weren't with me so that's a blessing.
I was just so frustrated - the guys that hit me had NO I.D.'s, so the police officer had to take their word for their names & addresses. They have no phone, no cell phone (as they used mine to try and call their work) - what a mess. They even admitted to the police officer they were illegal immigrants when asked.
So all they get is a $260 ticket and go on there merry way. Before the officer got there the passenger tried to bribe me with paying for the damage. I told him unless he had 1K cash in his pocket to zip it.
What a great system! The officer knew they were in the country illegally and didn't do anything about it. I didn't expect anything different, but my husband is steamed.
Shall be interesting to see if anything comes out of it, doubtful though!
