We pulled out a second kinked Navigator sensor today :(. The sensor had a difficult time calibrating right from the start, and the numbers were off pretty much since insertion (more so the highs than anything else). We inserted it on Monday night I think, and there didn't seem to be any problems. It looked like everything went well, didn't bleed excessively or hurt Mia, and the sensor placement looked perfect. We had no idea that it was kinked way down in her skin: a 90 degree kink on the last milimeter of the sensor. Exactly the same as we once had before (that time the sensor did not calibrate). I did call Abbott and they will send me replacement sensors for both but I am wondering: Has anyone else had kinks???

Wow, that is very interesting! We've never had a kinked sensor! I'm glad they're replacing it for you.
Did the inserter click? Did you make sure to press both buttons at the top with equal pressure? I don't know why they just don't put one button at the top.

We have had three kinked sensors just like you. It kinks at 90 degrees and you can see it laying on the skin. with the last lot number. We received two boxes with this lot number. N0820603 sensor code 106 exp date 2009/01. We have been using them since August and this is the first we have seen of them. Abbott is replacing all three but I will not receive until Nov. 20. They said they are backordered???
This also happened all on my younger son. Hmmm, could it be hitting muscle? It hasn't happened before.

When it happened I think I hear a click- click sound. Maybe I am not pressing the two buttons exactly the same time. I agree, it should be one button!!!

OMG  what 2 buttons!? Isn't there just one on top??? It is actually two??? I have never noticed . Uhm yeah, that's bad... We just inserted another one last night and are having calibration issues today, errors 17 and now 18 (redo BG in 2 hrs). I don't know what's happening . I am pretty sure though that my kinked sensors were 106 code but don't know the lot number (threw out the trash). Yes, the sensors are backordered indeed!!!

Yes, there are definitely 2 buttons. You have to press them at the same time. I've noticed that insertions hurt more when I don't press them both at exactly the same time. But I haven't noticed any kinked sensors and all of our sensors used so far have been the same lot, expiration date and code that Carol posted. I am glad they are replacing them for you, but I'm sorry this is happening!

OMG I must pay more attention to the buttons next time LOL!!! Well, we successfully calibrated! Woohooo!! I really...and I mean REALLY needed the N to work tonight with all the trick and treating and running around...been fighting lows all night despite reduced basal and candy.
Let's hope this is the end of our calibration issues with this sensor!

YAY!!!!!!!! I am glad you got it calibrated!!!
I am super paranoid about Sam's BGs tonight since she's with her dad and flying blind (no Nav until Monday). I called and asked him to put her on a temp rate tonight, but I got voicemail, who knows if he'll even get the message tonight. She always tanks on Halloween.

I am also so glad with had the Navigator on Halloween. It really reduced the number of checks we should have done. I keep all the packaging, inserter and sensor ro return to Abbott when they send they other three!
