It was just time to calibrate Oliver's Naviagator. We typically can't calibrate right before supper so I was going to wait until later tonight.

I poked his toe for supper because he was busy with his DS Pokemon game, and I got 78. I noticed that it was pretty consistent with the Navigator so I scrolled back and saw that he'd been holding steady in the low 80s for the last 30-40 minutes. So I went back and poked his finger (done with Pokemon!) and got 97. Hmmm. That's quite a bit different. Perhaps his hands have something on them? Went back to the toe and got 76 - so used that one for calibrating.

Then I got curious and went back to a different finger - 102. Washed hands and tried again - 95.

So pretty much 20 points difference between fingers and toes. Now I have no idea if the calibration was really a good idea! And I've never noticed a finger/toe difference before although I typically don't check that either.

The Navigator reading has been slowly rising since the calibration (about 10 points in the last 15 minutes)

Comments? Observations? He's pretty much done with poking for now, so that part of the experiment is over...

Those sort of different finger poke numbers are pretty typical. If it seems off I take three and average. Or use the two most similair and average. I think because your BS is always changeing a bit the numbers you get and the numbers the navigator gets are based on blood and fluids with a mixture of different sugar levels and thus the average of the fluids can vary from drop to drop for the meter or moment to moment with the sensor. I may be wrong, just my theory. :pAli

That seems normal. I would also think that the blood flow at the toes would be less then at the fingers. I could see the numbers being a little different.
