I got my hearing aids today and I can hear everything even the roll of my mouse. I am almost regretting it because the kids are still at it.

That's great! Now, put on some music you love and have missed and tell those children to "hush!" :D

That's great! :D
Can you turn them down when the kids get too loud? Boy, I would love to be able to do that!

I didn't know you had a hearing problem:o I'm sorry.

I'm glad you can hear now. If you can't turn the sound of your screaming kids down, maybe look into a remote control for the kids?:D

Congrats on your "new ears"! :D My father recently replaced his old ones and he says it makes such a difference! He didn't realize how much he was missing. Then again, he doesn't have a bunch of children in the house! ;)

I have three settings for the volume. If they are on the highest one which is supposed to be almost perfect hearing I can hear the buttons on my keyboard as I type. The doc told me I have 59% hearing loss. She said some of it could have been caused by the chemo.

Congrats on your new ears! The only thing I miss about working is fitting hearing aids; I loved being able to do something that could make such a big difference in someones life. Hearing loss can definitely be caused by certain types of chemo. They should have done pre, during, and post monitoring, as it can continue up to 6 months following treatment. There is no such thing as a percentage of hearing loss. Ask what degree of hearing loss you have (i.e. mild to moderate, moderate to severe...).

Thae percentage is what she told me but I am sleep deprieved so I may have misunderstood. I do that alot. Mine is moderate to severe. She did say that when I went and got them fitted. When I take them out at night I can tell a huge difference in hearing. She said that I would have to learn how to tune some things out a gain (like the turtle tank) It sits close to my desk and the water flowing is very loud in the morning.

Thats great. A friend who has been deaf since birth recently got one of those implants. She said she never realised how noisy her washing machine and dish washer were. They actually frightened her at first.
