My daughter just started the Navigator this past Thursday. We are using her arms for sensors right now. We did a sensor change this morning and let her choose where she wanted it and she chose her arm again. She is 4 and it is kind of big on her arm. Does anyone use any other areas for sensors? Can you use the Navigator on the thigh?

Our trainer had mentioned she had heard of other areas like the thigh and on a baby the upper bottom(hip). I would ask your trainer. I think they get their information from the Barbara Davis Center among other sources.

For now we just use the arms. Our CGMS CDE said that they suggest patients use the arm, abdomen or lower back area for sites. Of course the lower back is probably mostly for older kids/teens/adults who have fat back there. Apparently the back sites are popular because they are out of the way and very flat. They said nothing to us about the thigh. When we see our endo next (not for several months) I will ask her more about sites. She led much of the navigator research out here and is very familiar with use of the product because of that.
