Hi all,
Just thought that i wouild post this on here aswell as the Parents of children with Type 1 thread just too make sure that everyone gets to see it!
A little while ago i read a post on here regarding JDRF supplying families with D kids something called A bag of hope....a teddy...info...folder etc. I decided to look into this for Jack & sent them a email asking wether or not this Bag of hope was available over here in the UK. I recieved a email last night from a lovely lady named Megan telling me that over here they supply the same thing but its called a Kidsac (and is JDRF's British version of the 'Bag of Hope). KIDSAC is a supportive and educational pack for newly diagnosed children and their parents. It stands for Kids who are Insulin Dependent Searching for A Cure.
The pack aims to help children learn about type 1 diabetes and can help overcome the fear of injections and finger prick blood tests. This will make it easier for them to gain confidence and independence as they grow older with the condition - so hopefully this is something that would be of benefit to families.
KIDSAC contains:
Rufus the bear with diabetes.
NEW type 1 diabetes reference folder.
NEW family focused educational CD ROM and book.
JDRF information leaflets about living with diabetes for parents and schools
If you are interested, you can order one (free of charge) by calling the following number - 0845 873 7182.
:D:p:);)
