Well, I can't say I want every use SKin Tac again. Maybe for that 90 degree day in baseball . But, for now we are going back to just using IV Prep under the Opsite. The Skin Tac works almost too well. Even with using the Unisolve or all-care remover it was terrible pulling the tape off. My older son is still red from Last Sunday. My younger son had his first sensor removed that had Skin-tac. He said it hurt 1000 times more than with IV Prep. He said he Never wants to use it again. I will just reapply opsite if it comes loose. Usually with Opsite we can make it to day 4 without problems. I'll keep the Skin Tac in the closet for that day when I really need something super strong. My older son who is still red still seems like he has residure on his skin. It is a little shiny in places. I have used more adhesive remover and plain alcohol . I also found when doing the sensor change I would get it on my fingers and I would stick to everything. Even after cleaning my hands.

That's too bad, sorry it didn't work for you. Everyone's skin must be different, and react differently to various adhesives. Aaron just rips his set off and it seems completely normal underneath. But then, even with Skin Tac he'll sometimes get sets peeling off. I think he just doesn't have very "sticky" skin.

Holly,
What kind of tape are you sticking down? We are sticking down a 2 X 4 piece of Opsite around the Navigator. I think if it was a smaller piece of tape my kids wouldn't mind as much.
Does your son have any redness underneath after you take it off. My younger son does not have redness like his older brother.

If you need to use it again try using a barrier wipe, it seems to help Hailey with the irritation :o

So you put the barrier wipe under the skin-tac? Did you say you use Bard wipes? Did you have redness before you used the barrier wipes with just skin tac alone? I guess a more of a problem than the redness is the pulling off of the tape. It hurts.

Yep, she was getting red and right before we started using it she was getting sores :(

Do you let the Bard wipe dry throughly then apply the skintac? It doesn't wipe off the bard I guess.

Yes, I make sure it is completely dry before I put the skin tac on, it doesn't seem to come off at all with the skin tac and I make sure I put the barrier in a wider circle than the skin tac will be.

I am sorry your sons are having reactions to the SkinTac. I cannot imagine NOT using it for site and sensor changes on Mia. Nothing sticks unless she uses it. I am very careful and slow in removing the tape though because it does hurt when it pulls on her little fuzzy hairs on her skin. I hope that the Barrier wipes will help you!

I think we have been doing okay because the weather cooled off. We have one soccer practice and one soccer game and the tape is still holding tight with just IV Prep.

Here are our steps with the sensor

Insert Sensor
Barrier wipe all around it (let it dry)
Opsite Tape over top of it (two pieces horizontally that overlap on the center of the sensor)
Skin Tac on top of the Opsite and just off the edges.

After a couple of days the Opsite gets hard and starts to come up. I just cut it off and apply a small piece of tape where it's coming off. It comes off Soooooooooooooooo much easier. It's very tacky and sticky if you put Skin Tac underneath the Opsite.

Just an idea, but were very happy with it.

I'm very confused. You put Skin Tac on top of the Opsite? Does this help it stay stuck down? It seems like that would just stick to their clothes? Our piece of Opsite of about 2X4 and goes around the transmitter. Nothing sits on top of our Opsite.

We do a swipe of skin tac over also, once it is dry the clothing doesn't stick to it :o

So, you only put SKin Tac over it not under it? Does it make the tape stick down better or make it come off easier?

Correct, Skin tac only ON TOP of it. Yes it makes the tape stick down, and it come off easier. Sounds crazy, but give it a try. The good part is, when the tape does start coming up, it's much easier to take a little bit off and replace it with new.
