Well...after doing MDI for 7 months, our daughter is being hooked up to her blue Minimed next Thursday. We have two, two-hour classes with the CDE, and then our endo will switch her pump to insulin on December 12th. I am nervous, excited, feeling a little panic...did I say excited?!? :D It's such a different feeling then that of when she was first diagnosed! Almost a feeling of relief. She did so well with her pump trial. My biggest fear is any pain that inserting might cause. I'm just so looking forward to saying "yes" every time she wants to put something in her mouth and not have to give another injection or try to hold her off until the next big meal. Also looking forward to seeing BG numbers that stay below 200. Her A1C was 10.1 in September. Can't wait for that to drop too. Also can't wait to understand some of this pump lingo that the pumper's parents are throwing around on this board. :D I hope, like so many of you, that I can look back and say, "why didn't I do this sooner?"
Will keep you posted!

Congrats!! It takes some getting used to but makes life so much easier. You getting the 522, 722 or something else? Gonna try the CGMS? I'm already pushing to get my dd a pump and she's only had diabetes for a week. I've had mine so long, I can't imagine life without it.

Congratulations, all the hard work that it takes in the beginning definitely pays off when you see that first A1c come back after 3 months of pumping!
We're going to Disney next week and I can't wait because the last time we went we were doing MDI, and I felt bad having to give her a shot when she wanted something like a big box of popcorn, sometimes it would require two shots:mad:
My one suggestion: Get lots of naps this weekend, because you'll need that energy the next few weeks!
Happy pumping:)

Wonderful, Carrie! We started pumping 2 days ago and I've slept on the floor in HUnter's room the past 2 nights. First night cause I had to get up every 2 hours for checks, last night cause he was 268 at 10pm and I thought it would be eaiser. Endo wanted extra checks done again anyway...BUT besides that, Hunter is LOVING it! So am I, alot less math and no shots!!! Last night, we bolused for his bedtime snack and then he wanted more milk, so I just got him some and bolused again! WOW, this is gonna take some gettin used to!!:D
