HI all

Ok so we are still getting the lows, but not as often any more, but i have been in contact with teh endos.. They have done a through check on Bloodwork and charting.. HE see's the lows.. and agrees.. they have no rhyme or reason.. he cant figure them out either... And noticed they are getting fewer inbetween episodes... SO what he wants us to do, we still go back in a few weeks rather than the 3 month time frame, with the lows.. do our best, and when we have the eppisodes to give 15-30 carbs, plus a snack on top of those QS carbs that he does not want me to correct for... As for having to run high in school 200-300 range with combo bolus, seems to be working for now... SO if it aint broke why fix it...

My hubby and I both have been trying to figure some of this out... And what we both relized was that the lows are mostly on or around days that we have changed her site out and given fresh insulin/... We are generally really good about changing in every 3 days ( or ever 2 days in the summer)... So Im not sure what that has to do with it all or why fresh insulin is making such a big toll the first 1 to 1.5 days,, but it seems it is... So I brought this up with the endo.. and what we may have to do is to run one basal program for the day we change her site, and maybe 1 basal program for school days.. then her " normal progam" ...

SO that is where we are with all this.....

I'm glad it's starting to level out a bit. What a roller coaster it's been for you guys!!!

BTW, Emma always runs lower on day one after a site change. I know that having fresh insulin and a new cannula makes a big difference in her numbers, so I have to be extra cautious... especially in the first 12 hours.

Glad things are getting better, hopefully some sense will eventually come out of this.

Now that both of you have commented on lower numbers after a set change, it's making me think:confused: I'm going to keep an eye on the charts, because I both think you've got something there!

William used to get a very big drop after we changed his set if he took a bath first. We'd either be able to give him a snack without bolusing at all or we'd have to turn off his basal for a few hours.

Oddly enough that happened up until a few months ago and now we rarely ever have a "set bounce" even when he takes a bath before we change the set (which is almost always).

It was the activity of being in the tub so it must have been the warming up of his skin - as far as we could tell. A set change done without taking a bath beforehand or with new insulin never affected him this way.

Julia has great b/g on day one (this is only based on a few site changes, so take it with a grain of salt) but I have noticed when we get closer into day 2 that her numbers start to go up.
