Hi -my daughter is 7 and was diagnosed with type 1 on the 14/6/2008- had Chloe's nurse back in school today to re educate her teachers and other members of staff-it took 5 complaints to staff and 1 to the head for any action to be taken-but at least they are trying.
We seem to have good control at the moment -until the last few day's as Chloe is full of cold-but Chloe's nurse said not to worry and see how her BM's are after she's better-we'll see.............

Another crap day at school. No one knows how to change the lancets in her finger pricker(all tried to put in a used one and didn't think to try one of the other 4 in the wallet???)-got called into school-that I dont mind-as the nurse forgot to show them how to do it. What I mind is the teacher forgot to give her a snack while she was wandering around school for someone to change it for her. Just about at the end of my tether now.....................

Hi Lisa, And welcome. I had lots of probs with school when my 10yr old was first dx when she was 5, they have only dicided now to help because she has been put onto multi injections so has one at lunchtime. her teacher did her insulin yesturday when out on a trip. i feel so much better with her new teacher as her Husband has type 1 as well. she understands how she should be looked after. hope you get things sorted soon.
