I hestitated to post this because sometimes I post things that I guess are obvious to others...

Since we have been using his minimed cgms, we have eliminated his lows - no longer do we have 30's 40's, etc. I think since June we may have been in the 60's one time...which is completely incredible. Now that I have that issue a little more under control, I have been focusing on the highs.

I really don't think his ratios or basal are off, I think I am overcorrecting now that I don't have any lows. What use to work - 12-15 carb snack, now really sends him higher. I know this should have been obvious but I guess I was just use to what we have been doing the past year and didn't realize until I really looked over the data. He also got use to snacking at night if he was below 120 and now I let him go to bed in the 100's without a snack and he says steady (for now) just fine.

I have really been watching how many carbs I am giving him when he is low or before he goes to sports practice, etc. and it appears to be helping. I go to the endo next week and am anxious to see if his A1C has gone up or if it stays the same without the lows!

Well, the a1c might not stay the same but you know that it is better for him not to be going low so that is a plus. I know we had a lot of lows the visit before this and it really affected our a1c.

Congrats on the tighter control. I know when Westin is sitting at 100 at night I am fine with it and dh keeps asking, "Are you sure he doesn't need some juice?" I finally said, "Dear, 100 isn't low. Go to sleep." :)

My ds - Josh - keeps saying that to me - "MOM - I am below 120 - I need a snack" You get so use to something and I really believe cgms has changed how we manage so much.

I found out that a lot of the checks I was doing - while I did catch something every once in a while, really weren't necessary - now this doesn't mean if we lost our cgms coverage, that I wouldn't go right back to 8-10 checks a day but it so nice to just look at see where he is at. I really didn't understand what people meant before when they said they wouldn't give up their cgms over the pump because I really like our pump and what it does for us. Now I wouldn't give up either!!!!:)
