My little boy was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. He was rushed to the hospital where he stayed for 3 days. He had to grow up quite quickly in those first few days. Needles, finger pokes, and carb counts became the norm. Highs and lows. All these strange new words we would use on a daily basis. Am I feeling sad? A little.
But I also look back over the past two years with pride and joy. This little boy has learned how important it is to take care of his body at a young age. How great is that! How diabetes has NOT defined him. He is still a very active 9 year old boy that just happens to have diabetes. He is now the star of his classroom, if not his grade, because he wears the "same cool thing" as Nick Jonas.;) He is alive, he is healthy, and he is happy. For all of these things, I feel truly blessed! :cwds:
I hope you take the time today to celebrate having another healthy year and enjoy your star!

Thinking of you Christina at this anniversary. You have a great attitude, and so much to be proud in how you all have handled such a tough diagnosis. Big hugs!!!!!!

Cristina, aren't our children amazing? This is a tough anniversary to "celebrate" but we are all here for you. You are doing a great job. And you are right, we are all "truly blessed."
