First off, I'm a wrestler. I'm 15 and my name is Trish. I love the sport and my sister got me into it after her first year of wrestling. I thought since my big sister can beat up big scary guys why can't I. So, I started wrestling and I fell in love with it.
Diabetes and wrestling has become such a hastle in every aspect of my sport. During practice my BG level will either increase making me extra tired or drop making to wear i can practice. My high school coach gets so frustrated at me because during the hard conditioning I think he thinks I'm just trying to get out of not doing it but in reality I'd rather be doing all those sprints and push-ups with the guys. During a tournoment its a hastle because I can't wrestle with my pump on and all the adrineline makes my BG levels sky rocket. My mom and I have been doing research forever and have yet to find a way to manage my diabetes with my sport. So if anyone has any ideas on how to work at this issue I'd love to hear them.

Do a general search (under the search button at top of this forum page) under "sports" and you should get lots of posts about handling this. Also I would call my Endo and tell him you need help working out your diabetes routine with your sports. There is quite a bit of research out there about how to mesh the two. Good Luck.:)Ali

For most people, aerobic exercise (eg running) will decrease your BG while things such as weight lifting will increase it. Have you tried bolusing before you remove your pump?
