Does anyone else's child hide their hands while they are sleeping when they hear you come in their room? It is kinda funny. Julia has started rolling over on her hands, or tucking them between her legs at night when I come in to check her b/g. She is sound asleep, and wont remeber it being done in the am.

Not Ben.
He hears me come in his room and has a finger chosen and ready to be tested.
All while sleeping.
He likes to do the choosing....
I guess it makes him feel like he has some control. Poor pet.
That happens with Camila, too... She inmediately gives me her finger when I tell her " CAmila, give me one hand" , it's unbelieavable, isn't it?
poor little things!!!:cwds: :o

and it breaks my heart. Abby started this right when we got home from the hospital. She has just started to go back to sleeping on her back sometimes, it is mainly all curled up with hands hidden underneath. :(

Rachel sleeps with her hands hidden, and if I try to extract one she fights in her sleep.... But, if I ask for a finger, she puts one out without hesitation or wakeup!!! REALLY CUTE!!!
Amazing what the mind does...

This just really gets me. Scott will have his hands all curled up and hidden. He hates me to check him while he is sleeping. He says he'd rather have me wake him up. Sometimes though, I'll wipe a finger and he'll start shaking it (to dry the alcohol) all in his sleep.

Ty sleeps through all night time finger pokes....it is amazing what mind becomes accustomed to......

Teagan often sleeps with her hands under her tummy or chest. If she is not, we take the free hand and "click". As soon as we do, it tries to pull her hand under her body (all while sleeping). My DH is much better at keeping her hand out and getting the sample quickly. Me, I'm fumbling! But I do it....has to be done.
It is somewhat sad when they know and react, even while sleeping.

Yeah, breaks my heart when I have to do that too. Here's a trick that I use to make me feel better (and for comical purposes).... I use her.... middle finger. Another plus is that it's the longest finger and easier to prick and scoop in the dark. Think of me the next time you have to wake up in the middle of the night and prick your child's middle finger. :) :) Sorry, too much coffee this afternoon has got me a bit too loopy.

Last night when I went in to Chris's room he was asleep with both hands under his behind. Kinda hard to get a bg without waking him if the fingers are under his butt! ~Jennifer

Use his toes :)
Or alternate site. I think I'm in the minority, but I like alternate site testing.
Always thought earlobes would be great - high blood flow so they'd be more accurate than even fingers. Maybe a little spigot earring thing, turn it on, check, turn it off... :)

Emma usually sleeps right through, but she holds up a finger for me to poke. Pretty sad.:( She does it whether I'm coming to test her or just coming to check on her, which always makes me feel awful. Poor baby!

Lol, that is just about how I feel when doing middle of the night testing. Not towards anyone, but just that additude.
