John Walsh'b PumpingInsulin book says each 100gr of orange has 12 carb
David Mendosa's Excell carb table says each 100gr of orange has 9 carb
same problem with plums and some other fruits.
i'm sick'n tired.

Maybe one subtracted fiber and the other didn't? It could also depend on the variety, ripeness, and the juciness of the orange listed.
For a baby 3 carbs might make a difference, but it probably wouldn't change a bolus much at all for an older child.

Sometimes carb guides expect you to weigh oranges and other fruits with peels, sometimes without.

Thomas's bolus ratio for Breakfast is 1:4 - that would be almost 1u difference for him
He justs tests a lot if we have to guess

I agree that how ripe helps determine how many carbs. Even with figuring out how many carbs are in an apple I still am off sometimes. Fruits are my biggest challenge.
The differences also may be fiber related. I was told to subtrack ALL fiber by my CDE. I didn't hear the 5g rule most use until I read my first pumping book. Maybe that is the difference in the 3g. Most of the time I find you just have to go with your gut. Is the apple really sweet for it's variety? Is it really juicey, or kinda dry? ect...

This is why I use Calorie King - the software (and website) has measurements with and without peel, etc.

I know some guides do this. That would be very protozaic of the person writing the guide to account for peels. Unless of course he's accustomed to consume orange etc. with peels.

The only fruit I bolus for are bananas. I have found with other fruit, especially the pear which Rachel loves, if I bolus she tends to go low.
Different countries have different carb factors for foods, New Zealand and Australia don't include fibre in the calculation.:cwds:

Is it not because pears have a low GI? i dont remember the GI of pear right now.
