:D

Ryan is pumping! Woo hoo! He hooked up with insulin yesterday...we were in "class" all day. The only blip was when they had a physical therapist take all 6 new pumpers out to exercise...R started with a BG of 215 (after lunch) and came back with 43! He walked in the room and I knew...he was so pale. So this morning we've adjusted his basal and bolus rates...so I'll wake him up at 12, 3, and 6 again tonight...

I can tell it's going to be a lot of work...but man it is so much better already! We are pretty tired from the ordeal (two nights in a hotel...the doctor is 2 hours away and we started Thursday at 7 am) so we are skipping swim practice until next week...so it is going to be some work figuring out what he needs after intense exercise...but that's next week!

Wow, Congrats!!! I hope it goes well from now on with no major issues. Good thing Ryan has a good mommy to look after him :cwds:

Congrats! I hope all the adjustments go smoothly for you. We are one week from insulin start and I am all a twitter with excitement and nerves. I guess I should try and sleep now if I can so I am not too tired at the start.

Good Luck!!

Congratulations! You will have to see what works for you but we actually disconnect Tyler when he is running around or swimming. He will go low if we don't. Just test each hour and don't go longer than two. After soccer we adjust his basal to 60% delivery for about 12 hours at minimum. Sometimes 24. Talk to your doctor and see what they advise.

Good Luck and God Bless!

Thanks Tami...one of the DEs thought he went so low because of a combination of factors...including his meal bolus ratio was too low. She changed that from 1:25 to 1:30...but after the change he was running high. Got up to 356 yesterday evening! No ketones though.

I expect we will be lowering his basal prior to and after swimming and probably changing his bolus ratio for dinner on swim days as well. We ate a lot of fatty foods yesterday so we will eat more normally today and redo the checks overnight. (He was over 250 at 1 am and 4 am so at 4 am I just had him correct and skipped the next testing...he was 156 at breakfast, so much better...)

Anyway...trying not to go to too crazy with all the new stuff...hopefully it will get easier...
