I am wracking my brain why Adin's numbers are going up when he hasn't eaten anything. Causes I have thought of are: Growth, illness, stress, bad insulin. Am I missing something?

Well seeing as I just came from the 'sneaking food thread':p
I was going to list all the reasons you already listed. Just never know....

Adins insulin needs may be increasing just because. Sometimes in newly dx'd kids they can run high for no reason other then their pancease is making even less insulin, or it is tuesday. If you don't find the reason, please don't beat yourself up over it :cwds:

High fasting bg's are often a sign of a growth spurt. When he does eat, is he eating more than normal?

Sometimes bgs just go up for no obvious reason. You just have to increase the insulin to beat them. You might find something when you look back later, but maybe not. We just had this last week, and when I looked back two days ago I realised it was three days of constant rain keeping Phillip in doors all day. But we have had times when bgs have gone up for no reason we could find, including stealing food.

Something high fat eaten hours earlier (like cheese and fatty meat).
He is little though - I don't know if that could be an issue.
We get high numbers out of the blue sometimes. It could mean they are getting sick. Or sometimes it seems to have no reason - perhaps just hormones is all I can guess.

we see this occasionally too. She'll wake up from a nap at say 190, so I leave her, don't snack we play for the next hour or two, dinner time check, she 'll be 250! What!!
If it happened consistently I'd up insulin, but it doesn't. Only happens out of the blue, don't know, don't like it, but then there isn't much I like about diabetes.
