I saw an article on AOL that says according to the ADA spring babies are more susceptible to t1D. Emily was born in June. Guess she is out of that loop. What about yours?

I guess we fit that here, Lia is definitely a spring baby, her birthday is April 26.

Oh well, I read the article on AOL, sounds like no matter when you are born, there is some disease out there that you are more suceptible to getting!

My two sons with Diabetes were born in November and December.

June girl: late June, so she's a Summer baby.

But this is Mississippi: summer starts in, say, MARCH. It's HOT.

Christian is February.

June, but that's winter for us.

I heard that winter is the time people develop it, maybe it doesn't show up until spring once that pancreas is really in trouble.

I also heard the colder the climate, the more cases per 1,000 - eg we have more than australia but less than Scotland.

There's always some kind of theory.

May 14th, I think that qualifies as spring.

Depends if they mean northern or southern spring. Phillip was born on March 4, so northern spring, but our autumn. My non d dd was a spring baby in September. She always fits any theories like this that come out, except being non d.

my opinion is that the article seemed to say there was a disease for every season or month someone is born. Crazy

Oh I have to post this, sorry if it bothers anyone..According to this article Will and Emily are doomed...

Because they were born in the Spring they are more likely to commit suicide, develop Type 1 diabetes, at a higher risk for schizophrenia and mania/bipolar disorder, higher risk for autism and depression..Because they were premature they have a greater risk of cerebral palsy, autism, spectrum disorders, blindness, low vision, they may be less likely to leave home, live with a romantic partner or be sexually active.. ..They were small of course so that can mean by the time they are 30 or 40 they may have the health of someone 12 years older than them, they were born by c-section so they are at greater risk for allergies or asthma..They are the youngest so they may have a lower iq..Good grief can the poor kids have anything else against them:rolleyes:

Seriously I'm not too sure about all those studies..

If we're a good cross section here, then that Spring babies are more susceptible doesn't seem to be the case. ? Seems a fairly even division amongst the seasons to me.

Now if we will just feed them broccoli it will combat diabetes. I am really getting tired of all this rigamaroe. The headlines just said "Veggie combats diabetes" Not type 2 or type 1 just diabetes. It is really starting to make me mad.
