...for my 19 month old g-son. He and I took a two hour outing today to see great-g-parents, and give Mom a break for a few minutes. I was ready to keep him longer, right on through mealtime and insulin time, but Mom wanted him backhttp://img117.exs.cx/img117/6721/o4fsad.gif.

Great job Lance. I know just how you feel. As Zane gets a little older I'm betting that Mom will welcome longer breaks.

It's still awful close to diagnosis. Don't feel bad that Mom wanted him back. Thinking back to diagnosis it probably would have made me a little nervous having Tori out of my sight for more than an hour or so!!
Great Job Grandpa!!! Way to go for taking him for awhile!!

:) I don't blame her at all. Actually, she had her MIL coming to visit, and needed him back for that. I have to tease a little..... she's lurking around the halls here somewhere! She's doing a remarkable job so far - handling this like a pro. Lots of phone support from an aunt that is T1 for 45 years now has helped a lot. Plus, we all knew from that relative that D is a pain in the a$$, but not the end of the world.

I think this is the key to life with D.

BTW, or son was dx'ed at 22 months, almost 2 years ago. Now we are pumping and CGMing and thanking God for the insurance we have.

I am lurking in the area...

I am very thankful to have my dad, and my whole family. I don't know how I would be doing without them. They make it easier for me to feel comfortable to leave him when needed. I know I cannot be there 24/7, even working from home. I need a break too.

Thanks dad!

Involved and active grandparents are the exception to the rule. You are to be supremely congratulated!

It's so great that you are willing to take your grandson! Many people are scared! It's so hard to leave our kids - even with people we trust - because that means we have to let go. It's scary to do that.
