Wow.. thank you all for the support and welcomes.. never expected that.. Trying to get my boyfriend to join just so he could talk to other people who know someone or married to someone ect with diabetes.

Right now I got a little off track with my diabetes, trying to get back on, but it can be so hard. Anyone else struggle with wanting to keep taking care of themself? I'm not trying to get sick or anything, just hard to keep pricking and sticking myself with needles after a while. Especially when people make a big deal about it while being out and about.

Anyway, Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Hi Brittany. My name is Rae and I'm 17. Are you on a pump or MDI? I've gone through hard periods where I struggled to keep up with my D care. What are you struggling the most with? Testing, taking insulin, or something else? I have different ways of dealing different things.
Testing: set a reminder on your phone or pump or put a post-it-note in a place you will see at a time you should be testing. Set goals for how many times you will test a day and up it by 1 test every week.
Taking insulin: Put a post-it-note near food reminding you to take it.
Also ask your bf if he would mind reminding you (if that wouldnt bother you- it drives me nuts when my mom does that)

I think for me it's the testing and taking insulin..

Drives me nuts when i'm in public and people just drop everything and watch.. so i'll wait till i'm in the car or whatnot and i'll forget. Sometimes (and I know this is bad) but I just won't want to.

The boyfriend reminds me and so does my mom LoL.. But I just get so frusterated cause it's like no one but my sister understands. But I'm trying to get better.

Not on the pump yet.. waiting for the insurance to make up it's mind.

Maybe put a note in you car reminding you to test/inject. If you really dont like people watching you could go into a bathroom, but make sure you dont touch anything.

Welcome follow Minnesotan!
Are you using an insulin pen in public? I know some people think they are a little more discrete than filling up a syringe.

Hello!

Ya I was diagnosed at 17 and am now 19 as well! Been two years.. hard to believe when I think about it. That was a good idea with the note in that car! Deff looking forward to chatting!

W00t! A fellow Minnesotan! Funny thing is haven't been here to long. Almost two years as well.

I am starting to get a little better. More so with taking my insulin then testing the blood. But working on it.

Thank you to everyone who helped!
