I can't wait!!!! This is the future of diabetes care!

PS This will also be archived a week after the initial airing!

Also, there was a great thread about the AP awhile back, if anyone wants to learn about how it's going to work... http://forums.childrenwithdiabetes.com/showthread.php?t=16597

My poor daughter keeps asking me if she'll still have diabetes when she grows up, and I don't know what to say except, "well honey you might, but it will get much easier," and the AP is the reason why. I can't count on a cure, or other things, but this is something that makes me very hopeful about her future. :)

I count on it getting much easier, too. The NIH meeting on Towards an Artificial Pancreas will give a better outlook on the diabetes treatment situation we currently have. I an extremely interested in what they have to say. I really want to skip school and work, in order to see this live :p. But I am going to get my brother to record this, just in case.

Jeff said that he will post the links on CWD's front page, and he will also include it in his sunday letter. Yipee! :)

Here's one of the NIH speakers Aaron Kowalski, talking about the JDRF's role on the artificial pancreas. He and his brother both have type 1 Diabetes. This is a couple years old though, but it's quite interesting, still.

Also, the Artificial Pancreas is part of the FDA's Critical Path Initiative. http://www.fda.gov/oc/initiatives/criticalpath/

This means that the FDA, the product designers/developers, and the JDRF are all partnering to get this device available ASAP.

Therefore, this is extremely important to watch, in order to get a grasp on the new advances in diabetes care.
