Hi Marissa how is little Mia doing? My mind keeps wandering back to you. You have lived all of our worst nightmares. I still praying and hoping she is doing great!

Oh, you guys are so thoughtful! Mia has not vomitted since yesterday morning but continues to take the Zofran for the rest of today, as per Endo. She still has mod-high ketones and no appetite but has been able to drink fluids, so I am feeding her ginger ale and other sugary drinks in an effort to be able to give *some* insulin. She has had nothing to eat since Tuesday night!!! We continue to run the basals at a 60% reduction to keep her BG steady. She has also lost some weight but her spirits are good...now we are just waiting on her appetite to return...

Oh that poor little sweetie! I am glad she is on the road to recovery! Now to get rid of those nasty ketones! Thanks for the update. I have been worried.
It is hard for the average person to understand about our little community, that we worry about people we have never met. Even though we have never met face to face I feel like I know you all, even if it is only in cyber space. I'm so glad she is on the mend! Marissa you are an aweome mom!

I don't know if anyone else suggested this, but you can get Phenergan compounded in a way where you just have to put a little on their wrists and rub them together. It absorbs right through their skin. It's great when they are really sick and can't keep their medicine down. The only downside with my son is that it makes him hyper instead of tired like most people!
I'm so glad your little girl is feeling better. We've all been thinking about you.
I hope that she gets back to normal soon and am happy to hear that she is not throwing up anymore!

Thanks again...and wow what a great idea about the Phenergan! I had no idea!!
Mia is still battling ketones..this morning as high as 2.8 :eek: but she managed to eat a slice of bread (yay!!!!) and finally had a number over 200, so I was able to give some insulin and bring them down to 1.2.
Ellen stopped by and brought me a latte and finally met the girls. It is sooo comforting knowing that all you nice folks are thinking of us!! That really made my day!
I hope we are back in full swing by next week. Thanks again!!!:)

i was told by a local fellow D parent that T1's should not have phenergan b/c the effects can mimic or mask (can't remember which) Ketoacidosis...anyone hear of this?

Mia and her sister are absolutely magnficent. Of course their mother, Marisa, is a goddess:p. What a momma - bright, intiutitive, loving, peaceful, gorgeous.....If you can imagine this....she's even more incredible in person than on the boards!! Wishing Mia a full and speedy recovery. Barb, were your ears burning? We were talking about the puppy play date and your gorgeous puppy. I'd love to bring you a Starbucks. You'll have to send your request and directions in a PM or email :-). I had to read Marisa's instructions 2x to the barista HAHA.
