Kylee has a friend staying over tonight. Kylee was getting ready to do her Lantus and she put a new bag of needles on the table. Her friend picked them up and asked what they were and when Kylee told her she dropped them really fast, looks at her and says "You are one stroooong woman." and I about died laughing. The friend has a little bit of needle phobia and stands about 8 feet away from Kylee when she is doing her shots, and watches with this look of horror. She will stand next to her when she is poking her finger and play "Guess the Number" but she says that different because she cant see the needle.

ROFL sounds like one of Hailey's friends. She will lay all of her testing stuff out and get it ready for her to use (motherly type :p ) but when Hailey was on shots she had to leave the room

That's funny! Shannon has a friend also 11. For the last 2 years the friend will say, "Do you want me to give Shannon her shot?" NOOOO!!!! Thank you very much.... She has never given Shannon a shot and it cracks me up that she has so much confidence that she thinks she is going to pick up a needle and give her a shot!!!!

How cute!!
Its nice that our kids get recognition for the bravery they have to endure with shots and finger sticks.

The other weekend we were having a bbq and Sam convinced one of our friends to let him test him---boy did he feel cool testing an adult:D

That is cute. Friends have a different view on things. One of Tori's friends has given Tori her shots. Her mom was their watching, at first I was like WHAT!!! but Tori was fine and Baylee was so proud of herself. What it did was just bond there friendship even closer. Baylee also likes to check her own bs every chance she gets. Since they were little Baylee has always been the one most interested in Tori's diabetes. I have told her mom, maybe she will be dr. or a nurse. She is always asking Tori if she is LOW!! Childhood friends are the best friends:D

That is soo funny..

Brittney's best friend still turns her head or goes "OUCH" when she checks her Blood sugars.. I laugh, Diana say's oh boy I couldn't be a diabetic..lol. She said when the dentist had to give her a shot to fill a cavity she bit the dentist..LOL..

But I do give Diana props because she did check Britt's blood sugar at a sleepover party when Britt went to sleep. Her friends say what are you doing, she says What Mrs. Tracy does in the middle of the night.

I'll be honest and say that I'm terrified that no one will want to be friends with Molly now that she's D. :( I know this is prob irrational but how many parents are willing to take on the responsibility of having a D child in their care? Before Molly was dx, I spoke with my older daughter's soccer teammate who also goes to my kid's school and was always asking her questions about her D and her pump, so I was a bit exposed and it wasn't as daunting. It's a scary world out there and I pray that Molly has a friend that is willing to test her in the middle of the night if necessary. She's only 8 so we don't have a "best" friend yet but several who really seemed to be very worried for her when she was dx'd and hospitalized. Her entire class had cards made for her and ready in less than 90 mins after intial notification. They wanted to make sure we had the cards to take with us when we were transferred to Riley's!

ROFL Thats really funny.
But that's how I felt in the beginning. I hate needles and still do. Glad we're on the pump now :o

Too funny..
Cayden is a little young for friends, but one of his brothers friends was at the house and it was time for a shot, and the little boy was like I can't watch, then when he got it, he was like oh that hurts.. Little Cayden said My shots don't hurt so bad.. He now says that after every shot almost.. lol
