My name is Courtney. My hubby, Rob, and I have four children. Three of our kids have type 1 diabetes. Our oldest son has rheumatoid arthritis and is being tested for type 1 right now. His fasting blood sugars have been borderline even though his a1c seems normal. That is how our youngest son was diagnosed. My husband was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia on March 28th this year. Our life has just been absolutely insane lately! I used to post at a couple of of forums but haven't posted in about 8 months or more. I feel like I could really use some human interaction right now! :D
Our girls, 11 and 12, are off at diabetes camp this week and we are so excited for them! Yea Camp Midicha!!!

Welcome to the CWD family! I'm sure you'll find lots of good, adult interaction here. The parents of type 1 children board is pretty busy.
You certainly have been given a lot to deal with. I hope that you can come here and feel free to share your worries and your experiences.

Camp Midicha sounds fun! I tried to get our daughter in there but they were already full.:(
This board is the best for support!

Welcome! Wow, you have a lot on your plate. I hope everything goes ok with your oldest son, and your husband...My dad was diagnosed with leukemia five months after I was diagnosed with type 1. My mom also had colon cancer when I was eight. Anyways, I wish you guys the best of luck.
I will keep you and your family in my prayers. :cwds:

Courtney!!! I've missed you!! I'm sorry to hear your other son is being tested for Type 1 as well. Can't a family get a break? How is YOUR health through all of this? Hugs to you and please post when you can.

Wow Courtney, that is so unexpected to see 3 and possibly 4 children with Type 1 in the same family. My impression is that neither you nor your husband have dibetes. Are there any relatives with Type 1?
I was diagnosed with Type 1 in 1945 when I was 6. I am now 68 and I am very healthy. If your children have very good care and good control, especially when they are adults, then they will have a much better chance of living a long, healthy life with no serious complications. Good luck to you and your family!
