Hi everyone,

My daughter is nearly 15 years old and has type 1 diabetes. We have recently made a big move from Cleveland, Ohio to the Orlando, FL area. She had a wonderful diabetes team at the Cleveland Clinic at home, but we're lost as to finding a new one in our new home. We are currently living in the Castleberry area (east side). If anyone can help with a referral or some ideas, it would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Luanne

I would recommend Nemours Childrens Clinic in downtown Orlando. Taking into account where you live, you may want to choose the other office in Lake Mary. Nemours has an ADA recognized pediatric diabetes education program and possesses a full staff of pediatric endocrinologists, pediatric diabetes nurse educators and diabetes dietitians. Also it is staffed by a full time social worker.
Contact information can be found on-line at www.nemours.org.
I hope this helps and welcome to central Florida.
Since you live in Orlando now, your family may defintely want to take advantage of Friends for Life since it is in "your backyard" every summer.
You can check out information about this at www.childrenwithdiabetes.com.

This is exactly the type of information I was looking for! Thanks for your welcome and for the info! It is so hard to move to a new area and find good caregivers.

We go to Nemours in Lake Mary. We see Dr. Yu - they have a team of 3 CDE's a dietician and Social Worker. Very nice, very prompt and informative. PM me if you need anything else!
