Hi everyone! I'm a Type 1 diabetic and currently run an outreach foundation designed specifically to teach insulin-dependents how to get involved in various active sports. For more about the foundation, check out www.DAWF.org. We also run a sports forum at www.diabetesandsports.com.
About the snowboarding: Last year I put together a camp for Type 1s ages, 8 to 18 in Madison WI. I'm doing it again this year and would like to extend it to the rest of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and anyone else willing to find their way to Wausau, Wisconsin, where Granite Peak (www.skigranitepeak.com) is located. Type 1 Diabetic, Pro Snowboarder, Sean Busby (www.seanbusby.com) will be joining us again and is stoked to be coming back!
If this is of interest to you or anyone you know, shoot me an email at miles@DAWF.org and I'll put you (or them) on the list to receive registration information later this month. This is first come, first serve and we are limiting the camp to 100 participants...
If you know of anyone else interested in such an event, please pass it on!
Thanks!
