Hello all. We have an Endo appt. today in Iowa City. They have closed alot of the roads that go there due to flooding. It is going to be a longggg dayyy......
Hi,

Hi,

We live in Iowa. If you need to evacuate for any reason, and don't have family near by. My house is your house...Don't hesitate to PM me.
Good luck at the Endo! Drive SAFE!
Thanks so much Lanae! Thankfully we are fine--we're in the northeast so we are not in danger here. We are on water restrictions, but that is not bad considering all the damage downtown and near Indian Creek.
I am worried about Brenda (kotasmom) out on the road though. I hope that they can make it safely.

I'm originally from Iowa (obviously, with my screenname) and I've been watching the weather coverage there with horror. I still have family in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, and so far they're okay, but the water just keeps coming and coming and coming.
I'm thinking of all you guys and hoping your homes and families stay safe.

Thanks for all of your concern while we did our Iowa City trip to the endo! Getting there was not all too bad, some detours, and then traffic back up by the hospital for 45 minutes! Getting home was another story.........we tried going back the same way we came in, but more roads were closed. We ended up driving 362 miles yesterday when it should have been about 135 miles round trip. It was a very long day..........
On the up side.......Dakota's A1C was down to 7.1 from 11.4 at dx's in January. The dr. thought that was wonderful, esp. since he went thru all the highs from being on steroids a month ago.
I'm glad you made it home OK! Congrats on the super A1C--I'm sure that helped make the trip worthwhile!

It's good to hear from those of you in IA who are safe.
It's concerning there's very little national coverage on the news shows what's going on....so many families displaced, lost homes etc. Can you think of anyone on the forums who has been missing lately?
Maybe we can start some kind of buddy system so we check on one another during rough times. If I can help a family with diabetes supplies, I'd like to be able to do that too.
