:( Today around 3 this afternoon my wife calls me and tells me to come home from work because our dog was just hit and killed in the road, I have rasied him for 13 years since he was a puppy. The hardest part is Jodi keeps asking when his booboo will go away and he can play again. I just don't know how to tell her that he isn't coming back. I hope none of you have to deal with a sad little child like I have to now. Well that is all for now take care everyone and God Bless:(:(

Awww...that's always so hard. I remember when we were kids and my sister's dog got run over on her birthday. She raised her from a puppy, too.
You'll figure out the best way to tell your little one. I know it's really difficult at that age.

I'm sorry for your loss, it's very difficult to lose a pet that you've had for a long time. It's even worse to have to explain it to a small child.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your pooch. And for one as young as Jodi it must just defy understanding.

I'm so sorry for your loss....our pets are very much a part of our family aren't they?
Your post made me go hug my dog, even though I am mad at her for eating food off of the counter tonight.
Again I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry...Jodi must be heartbroken even though she does not understand what death is at the age of 2, you can just explain it as best as you can... Maybe you can do a memorial (angel garden) in your yard and she can help you with it? Just a little place she can sit and remember her dog..(My sister did this with her kids, it was pretty beautiful. Pics of the dog, whatever is comforting to you ..put there. Again my condolences I know your hearts are all heavy tonight.

I am so sorry....it was awful having to put our very old dog down in the fall but a sudden loss is so hard. It's hard having to be the grown up in times like these. Hugs to your family.

I'm very sorry for the loss of your dog. I understand how sad you must feel, having lost 'buddies' before. I hope you found a way to explain to yur child what happened.
Maybe this will sound of the wall, but I always tell people about a book which kind of gives an soothing explanation about 'losses'...I even use it myself for thinking of people I've lost. I know it sounds really silly, but this book really touched me. It's called 'Laura's Star' by Klaus Baumgart. It's the story of a star Laura finds, that eventually has to go back to the sky. Maybe your child would feel some ' comfort' in it...I'm sorry if I'm out of line, but grief is such a powerful emotion to deal with, and I'm not sure what to say really.
