I've been down this road before, or should I say in that drum before, but it's been a while. HELP. What have you found most effective for removing pen ink from the dryer drum? Thank you.

Haven't encountered that yet, but I would try nail polish remover and then clean real well with mild soap and water.
Any ideas for silly putty on stuffed animals?

Hi Ellen, I've had good success using a product called Spot Shot. it also works great on pet stains.
Good luck!

Can I be part of this too?
My son tried to rub a food stain out with a red napkin - now there's red dye from the napkin on the shorts. I've used Shout stain sheet thingie and liquid Tide to no avail.

Hair spray and possible those Mr. Clean erasers (they pretty much do the trick on everything)

I like the idea of the Mr. Clean erasers because at least there won't be toxic fumes in the dryer...
I imagine WD40 will work great - need a mask!
I'm making a list of what to buy including rubbing alcohol, spot shot.......Keep those suggestions coming. A certain one of my beloved offspring will be working hard to learn to leave the pens out of the pocket.
OSUMom, Carbona makes a wonderful product- Color Run Remover - I buy it at the grocery store in the laundry detergent aisle

There's a couple things I know of that would almost certainly remove it, but the fumes are so dangerous that I am reluctant to say what they are. Let's just say that there are solvents out there that are pure evil.
Whatever method you use make sure you have very good ventilation. You need to be breathing clean air and there's stuff that will replace the air with poisonous fumes. In other words it can kill you.

Amodex Ink and Stain Remover is supposed to be good. It is recommended on the Crayola and Sharpie permanent marker websites. Hey, anything that can remove permanent marker has got to be good.

I haven't used ours, yet. I need to remove some melted crayon from the backseat of our van.

Ok Ellen, enquires minds what to know.
Did you get the ink out of your dryer? What did you use?
Did you get over to Staceys house to get the ink out of her dryer too? :D

Hair spray didn't work
Mr. Clean magic eraser didn't work
S-32 Spot-Stain remover didn't work
Washed out the drum from those tries.
Called the company that makes BAM - they don't recommend their product.
Whirlpool customer service person recommended Original Krud Kutter concentrated cleaner/degreaser/stain remover. That's going to be tried next.
:p
I really appreciate everyone's suggestions. Stay tuned or keep them coming.
91% alcohol didn't work (Badshoe - what a bout a Corona with lime?)
Forget Krud Kutter

Freeze it.....then it pops right off .....freezing also works for melted candle wax and sometimes gum....

THanks, hadn't thought about that! I'll pop the little puppy in the freezer when I get home tonight.

Not sure how I missed this post, had the exact same problem last week, used Orange Glo Paste that I got at Sams. environmentally friendly

Thanks Mom2Will...did you apply and leave it on for a while and then scrub? This is going to be the last product I try :-).

The orange glow is what I was going to suggest. It even gets permanant marker off of smooth surfaces--be sure to wipe it off of furniture right away or it will make the shiney parts dull.

I made sure the dryer was a little warm, rubbed the paste on, rubbed off, rinsed with warm water and it worked!! (this was after I tried running a load of bleach soaked towels-that didn't work:confused:) Good luck!
OK - I gotta ask - if the ink isn't staining the clothes, do you really need to get it off?

regular rubbing alcohol works great on regular pen (even after its dryed..) just put lots on and let it sit..
but it doesn't work for crayon:( one of my dd's put crayon in the wash, a nice, lovely royal blue crayon.. I didn't know it.. now 3 loads of laundry (I was at the laundry mat using a triple loader) are completely ruined, most of it new clothing!
