Sorry it took me so long to update you all on the meeting that I had with the sub and Kristen's prinicple. I talked to the principle first but I asked him if I could talk to the sub alone. When I met with the sub and asked him very calmly why refused Kristen the right to test and he told me " well I didnt know that she had diabetes." WTH?!? I asked him "why else would she need to check her blood sugar?" He said "well, I thought she was faking". I said "faking being sick and faking being diabetic are two totally different things." He said "I've had kids fake being sick before just to get out of class".
I told him "Im sure you have but you should have just let her go and if he thought that she was faking he should have let the nurse deal with that. So I told him "he should do his job and let the nurse do hers." He said "well it wont happen again." I told him "I know it wont because if you put my daughter in danger again im not going to the principle, im going to deal with you myself and you dont want that." And I just stormed out the room. I dont think that he is going to mess with my daughter again.

Good for you! Did you end up waiting until the end of the day? What did the principal say about it? What that sub did was sooooooooo wrong

What an a$$, he should not be teaching.
What did the principle say regarding all of this. That is not a sub that I would want back at my school.

Good for you! I also would be interested to hear what the principal said.

ETA: I also wanted to say thanks for the original post and the update. This whole incident reminded me to have another conversation with Samantha about how it is important to respect authority figures, but that it is okay to question them and go above them if you know they are in the wrong. We talked all about this scenario and what she would do in that position. So, thanks for sharing the story. It was horrible that it happened, but sharing it allowed some of us other parents the opportunity to potentially avoid a similar experience.

Glad you got to educate him a little bit! :) Like I said before in the other thread, I'm a sub, too, and I just can't imagine anyone faking diabetes!! Use your head, sub!

Thanks for letting us know. We were all still wondering. :)
