We just got our Glucagon perscription refilled and we noticed the expiration date on them will expire in 6mo. I could have sworn our last ones were good for 1yr. Is the pharmacy trying to pull a fast on on us?

Is there a mandate that says how long it should be good for? I would check it out with your insurance (if you have it). The pharmacy might not have even been paying attention, which unfortunately happens a lot.
I would ask the RX to replace them - I like ours to be atleast 9 months out - but we got one 3 months out before - which they swapped for us.

We've done this also. I got an eye-roll when I asked, but they did switch them. I try to check before I leave the counter.

I just got my Glucagon refilled in April...I just checked the expiration date and its 12/2009! How could that be?? It says it right on the Glucagon vial of powder, not the saline solution one..This one expires in a year and a half? lol...
The use by date on the outside is of course April 2009...one year after it was filled..that seems about right.

I stopped filling at Wal-mart because the Pharm. in our area insisted that he was within his writes selling me glucagon that expired in 1 month or so. I insisted he reorder me some glucagon with a more acceptable expiration date and he did "with attitude":eek:.

When we got ours at Walmart it was always ready to expire in 3-4 months and our insurance would only buy one every 6 months at the time :eek: Since we switched everything to A+ all of our glucagon says 2009!

If your gluc expires in 6 months: bring it back to the pharmacy.
Keep in mind that glucagon actually works for another year after its expiration date, so if your kid has a severe low and the only gluc you have is expired: use it anyway.

The one time I've gotten ones that were about to expire (within 6 months or so), I called the pharmacy and they ordered new ones and changed them out. Now I check before I leave.
I was going to get them from Aplus, but they seemed to have a hard time keeping them in stock and only sent one. Not a big deal to get from pharmacy when we need it.
