hey I'm not type 2 but I'm type 1. But the questions for you is my friend's mom (and my mom's best friend) took her BS and it was around 200. she doesn't do anything about it and ignores it and eats junk food. She's not obese or THAT overweight but I'm sure she could spare some pounds. She's had pancreas problems before. But she doesn't do anything! She doesn't excericise or eat well or take her BS she just ignores it. And now she's getting problems. And my friend is really sad and scared for his mom and I don't know how I can help her because she always brings up my diabetes and how I'm dealing with it and how I excericise and eat and IDK why she does if she's not interested in helping herself. I know what if feels like to not want to take care of yourself but she hasn't even tried. Did you guys feel this way? What helped you? How can I help her? and help my friend.

Wow, pretty impressive that you want to try and help out. It sounds like a challenge, but the fact that she keeps bringing it up could mean she's kind of asking for help.

Maybe you can get one of your parents to chat with her, and explain what blood sugar levels of 200 and more can do to her in the long run. There are lots of things she could do to bring those BG levels down - maybe she needs someone to explain it to her.

Well it sounds like your friend's mother is floating on the River Denial. I think it is so hard to accept the diagnosis no matter what type one has. Let her know about the Type 2 boards here and on the ADA website. Many have been in the same place she is now and have made the changes to be healthier etc. I think she may feel overwhelmed and really doesn't think anyone will understand. Let her know there is help and hope and she does not have to deal with this alone.
