Just hoping that everyone is safe in the Northern Virginia & Maryland area. We are having some horrible weather, tornado's and high winds..

It was pretty scary for us today - there was a sighting of a funnel cloud 15 miles NW of us travelling right towards our house. The trees were blowing fiercely and the water was coming down in sheets. Luckily they kept the elementary kids in the school that were supposed to be getting on the buses about that time but it was a tense time - I sent the 3 kids I had here down in the basement to watch TV and I sat on the floor in front of the couch on the main floor so I could watch the weather.

Yes, it was crazy!!! The storm went right around us but my husband got caught driving through the tail end of the tornado that hit Middleburg! He said tree limbs and electrical lines were falling all around him. Of course it didn't help that I kept trying to reach him on his cell phone every 15 seconds or so! ;) He kept looking down at his phone ringing and for some reason was a little too busy to answer - imagine that! LOL!

They kept the kids in school an hour later today as well - this was the first time this has ever happened and I was nervous about Cameron, but I spoke with the school nurse and she said she kept her eye on him and he was fine.

I guess this was our "Welcome to Summer", huh?!

We're down in the Richmond area. Apparently there was a tornado south of us last night. We seem to be south of all the activity tonight. I hope everyone is safe!

Thanks for checking. We lost power for 7.5 hours and I was going stir crazy. We had to eat out and I took my cell to charge it there! Thought I might need it for the alarm function.

Waiting to see how the neighborhood pool fared...no pump for 7.5 hours and no guarantee that it came back on when the power did. I sent my desk worker home right before the deluge hit. We had about 10 seconds of drizzle and then POW! The lifeguards saw some rotation in the clouds and I waited it out in the registration shack (cinder block construction).

Tom was thrilled because we had chicken quesadillas and white pizza for dinner.

I'm in Rockville and I grabbed the kids a few minutes early from school so we could get home before it hit. Thank goodness we did because the first storm blew by us around the same time we are usually getting home from school. Some big tree limbs fell onto the road in front of our house! Glad that wasn't on us while we were driving! The 3pm storm was the worst of it up here but it was bad!

I got up (now 3am) for a bit and checked email and I see that our public schools are closed tomorrow for the whole county! Trying to figure out what to do with the kids! LOL!

We spent some scarey moments in the basement. A few trees went down on our property, but nothing serious after we retrieved our trampoline from 1 acre away!!!

Tracy, this happened to us last year so now we have our trampoline staked in! I looked out the window and it was airborne! LOL! If you need help with your trees, I know a guy - PM me! :)

I live right outside College park In Laurel on the Anne Arundel County Side and that tornado I believe it was over a year ago killed the girls on the campus came right up Rt 1. Here at work about 3:00 we had to go into the stairwell because they said If you are in the path of Beltsville and Laurel go to a safe place now. I wasn't worried about myself as I was worried about my children being safe.. I saw the pictures on the news and rememberd alot of you are from VA and a few from MD and wanted to make sure you were ok. We are all so close by heaven forbid something happen we have supplies to donate for our D kids and a Home need be. .. Chesapeake Beach got slammed its just sad, its hit so close to home.
