OK, so I started taking some back when Heather first brought it up. Then things got a little crazy here and I started forgetting. Then my skin started breaking out. And last night my stylist visibly cringed at the condition of my hair.
Sooooo...I'm back! I'm a believer! Not a trace...of doubt in my mind...

oh I'm a believer too! I was taking them twice a day and then I started to forget the night time ones and I could tell my skin was getting nasty again. So now I have to run out and get more because I took the last one today. EEEK

No, no side affects that aren't good...Not that I know of. I buy the Kirkland Brand at Costco, they are big, once a day, and no fish taste:D

Mine are Nature Made from CVS but I'm switching to the Costco brand the next time someone in my family makes a Costco run!

I'm going to buy the Kirkland brand next time too for myself. You just can't beat the value. I do like the Dr. Weil brand though because they have the higher amounts of DHA and EPA. They are only 500 mg though and way more $$. I give my younger son those.

Heather...you only take them once a day?

I take the Nature Made ones - they are 1200mg and you take them twice a day. They have a special "no fish burps" coating thing...and I've never ever ever experienced anything remotely weird like that. I get the nature made because there are often coupons in the paper AND they go on sale, buy 1 get 1 free just about all the time. :)
I also think the fish oil is helping with my neck - I have 3 herniated discs and they are so much less crunchy lately...

The reason I was asking is because the ones I have are by Spring Valley and they are 1000 mg each. It says to take three a day!!! I think the one-a-day ones at Costco are only 1200 mg.

Sounds like you get an "extra" fish part.
Ha, Ha, sorry I have no idea, but it sound like a spine or bone.
Spirulina may refer to: Spirulina (dietary supplement)

Fish oil is the single best thing you can take.
Studies are published almost daily as the scientific community discovers more and more of the many extraordinary omega 3 fish oil benefits.
FYI - Here are 7 proven omega 3 benefits you should know about.
1. Less Pain and Inflammation. Omega 3 fatty acids, particularly EPA, have a very positive effect on your inflammatory response. Through several mechanisms, they regulate your body's inflammation cycle, which prevents and relieves painful conditions like arthritis, prostatitis, cystitis and anything else ending in "itis."
2. Cardiovascular Health. Omega 3 fatty acids have also been proven to work wonders for your heart and the miles and miles of arteries and veins that make up your cardiovascular system. They help to lower cholesterol, tryglicerides, LDLs and blood pressure, while at the same time increasing good HDL cholesterol. This adds years to your life expectancy.
3. Protection from Stroke and Heart Attack. When plaque builds up on arterial walls and then breaks loose, it causes what's known as a thrombosis, which is a fancy way of saying clot. If a clot gets stuck in the brain, it causes a stroke and when it plugs an artery, it causes a heart attack. Research shows omega 3 fatty acids break up clots before they can cause any damage.
4. Better Brain Function and Higher Intelligence. Pregnant and nursing mothers can have a great impact on the intelligence and happiness of their babies by supplementing with fish oil. For adults, omega 3 improves memory, recall, reasoning and focus. You'll swear you're getting younger and smarter.
5. Less Depression and Psychosis. Making you smarter is not all omega 3 does for your brain. Psychiatry department researchers at the University of Sheffield, along with many other research studies, found that omega 3 fish oil supplements "alleviate" the symptoms of depression, bipolar and psychosis (Journal of Affective Disorder Vol. 48(2-3);149-55).
6. Lower Incidence of Childhood Disorders. Just to show how fish oil fatty acids leave nobody out, studies show that children (and adults) with ADD and ADHD experience a greatly improved quality of life. And those with dyslexia, dyspraxia and compulsive disorders have gotten a new lease on life thanks to omega 3 oils.
7. Reduction of Breast, Colon and Prostate Cancer. And finally, omega 3 fish oil has been shown to help prevent three of the most common forms of cancer – breast, colon and prostate. Science tells us that omega 3s accomplish this in three ways. They stop the alteration from a normal healthy cell to a cancerous mass, inhibiting unwanted cellular growth and causing apoptosis, or cellular death, of cancer cells.
Plus these other benefits -
8. Helps keep cell walls pliable (skin cells).
9. Helps reduce skin cracking and scalp issues.
10. Thins the blood - lower BP
11. Helps to lower cholesterol
and the list goes on...
Best to get brands that are molecularly distilled to remove mercury
lead, PCB and other toxins. Most of the higher end brands (Nordic Naturals, Nature's Way..)
do this.
Do yourself a big favor - take fish oil everyday!

mine are 1200 and take 2 a day, so 2400 a day. I don't think there is a recommended dose, and I think you can safely take 3 1000mg..I've heard of people taking 3 times that much.

This is really coincedental! My husband told me to look up Fish Oil last night on computer (I have not yet) because someone at work told him to start taking it?? What does it do?
He takes prescription meds so I wouldnt want this to interfere with it. I am going to search it and see what I find...It sounds gross though. :)

Sounds a little spammy or at least suspect. I don't mean to offend but...
Don't you mean fishy? Sorry, couldn't resist.
I have to start back on it again too. You think it will help with all the gray that's been showing up since last week?
Oh....Is it safe to give to dogs? I have two that are itchy right now. No fleas, could be the shampoo I used a week ago. I'm betting dry skin. I give the Rott people glucosamine for his hind legs, vet said it was cheaper.
I deleted a couple posts directly related to the spam promoting a particular brand.
When a user who has no connection to diabetes creates an account and immediately promotes a product, that is by definition spam. The posts will be deleted, the promoted sites added to the online censor, and the user banned -- all per the terms of service.

Definitely OK for dogs. The vet put our dog on one fish oil + one vitamin E tablet a day for her crummy nails (sounds funny, but it's not cosmetic -- her nails are brittle and split very easily). Her nails are much, much better and I'm working up the nerve to try them myself. (I'm AFRAID of fish burps, but you lot have reassured me.)

I considered taking it a few months ago, then forgot all about it. I think my husband and I could benefit from it for sure, and probably the kids too. I will have to look for some when Im out of town this weekend.
I wanted to ask, would it be ok for Kylee to take it? She has exzema and I think it may help her out.

Has anyone tried freezing the fish oil vitamins? The doctor (Harvard M.D.) at the Sensory Resources workshop that I attended said that freezing the pills makes it so you don't get the fish burps. He recommended Omega 3 fatty acid capsules for an EPA of 1500 mg per day for an adult. The specific ones he recommended were from Nature Made from Publix (2 capsules/day). 8-12 year-olds to get 900 mg per day, and 5-10 year-olds to get 500 mg per day. The ones that he recommended to help with behavior issues are the Emulsified Norwegian Cod Liver Oil from a health food store, orange flavor, 1 tsp./day. - These are his suggestions, and I haven't tried them yet. I thought I'd pass along the info in case it might help.

Also coincidental here, and kinda funny since I bought fish oil capsules a week ago to start giving to my DOG! lol Someone told me she'd stop shedding so much if I gave her fish oil.
So tomorrow when I put one in her food dish I'll take one too. :)
