Anyone taken their kids on vacation in the Santa Fe/Taos/Albuquerque area? We are going out there in 2 weeks and I have to entertain both girls by myself for 2 days while my husband is in a training. They wanted to go horseback riding but I can't find a ranch that will take a 6yr old. Their minimum is 8. I would love ideas if anyone has any!!
Thanks:)

There is a place in Angel Fire that will let one that age ride. I don't remember the name, but there aren't that many of anything in Angel Fire.

Driving through Santa Fe is a nightmare. I think it was Will Rogers that said the city streets was laid out by a drunk man riding backwards on a donkey. Anyways there is tons of stuff to do in Albuquerque, there is also a ranch called Los Golinda's (or something like that) between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, it is set up and ran like it was in the early 1800's, the people dress the part and work it. It is very cool.

One of the museums in Albuquerque has an IMAX theater and always shows something good.

Brensdad--Thanks! I found 2 possibilities in Angel Fire online that I am going to check out.

Liz--I read a little about Los Golondrinas (sp) but it didn't sound too exciting. Your description sounds much better though. I think the girls might go for that place!

We just came back from a week long vacation in Albuquerque, NM. We love it there and there is so much to do. There is a family fun place on Tramway/Indian School. Tinkertown Museum, is very cute, Jenny loved it. Tent Rock National Monument is also a great place to take the kids.

The trip from Albuquerque to Santa Fe on Highway 14 through Madrid* is beautiful (*they made part of the movie Wild Hogs (John Travolta, William Macy) there, they specially build a dinner for that movie there.

Jenny always likes to make a tour at the Acoma Indian Reservation.

They also have a nice zoo and museum.
