Wow you ladies are quick:)
and I like number 5 that Amy posted too
do you still wanna be able to keep it in a ponytail?
And do you think you might want to go with bags?
and are you going for the whole kit and kaboodle and throwing in some color?

Well you have very beautiful eyes and great eyebrows, so whatever you do, try to accentuate them. I wouldn't recommend bangs for you because it would cover them.

Not to be the downer here, but does your husband like suprises? My husband isnt the suprise type and also doesnt like for my hair to be short, especially if its an extreme change. Its a weird and somewhat old fashioned thing, but its just the way he is. My dad was always one of those "Girls should have long hair" guys too, so its nothing new to me. If I went out and cut my hair to suprise him, he wouldnt be happy.
If he is the type to like suprises, I think a Katie Holmes type style would be cute. That seems to be a pretty popular style lately, and it fits most anyone. It also look really easy to care for and can be done a little more formally or let casual and both ways look good.

I would suggest:
- cutting a few inches only (give yourself and your DH time to get used to it), plus you'd want to have it just long enough to be able to put it up, in hot weather
- layer it, to add volume
- go for the shag/Katie Holmes style, but longer....love shags...good excuse to wear it uncombed, plus not too much work usually
If you want to take a daring step, add some golden highlights. But I would not go for bangs.
Good luck!

What about the "victoria beckham" haircut? It is easy and cute! You can also do the style in different lengths, so you don't have to go too drastic. Good luck and be sure to post your new haircut for us to see!

You timid type are so cute! My hair grows back so fast. I cut it last summer really short and you see it now. My husband loves surprises! He just wants me to take care of myself, and right now I just throw it into a pony tail.
The only thing I have never done is bangs. And I mean never like from when I was 3.
My mom is going to color it today (to cut on costs) I'm thinking chunky highlights blonde and red. hee hee, I'm excited. I love changing things up a bit.
I like musicjunky's picture I was thinking something like this.

Maybe I'll bring both of these to the parlor.

If your husband's like mine, he doesn't care what my hair looks like and doesn't even notice! I say go with a bob and shorter in the back for drama - yeah go with bangs why not? It will accentuate your eyes and look great - pay extra and go to a great stylist - it will be worth it in this situation of making a big change. Post a photo when you're done. How fun! :) Like some others have said color in itself can create a great deal of drama - but please don't go all blonde I don't like that at all for you - highlights maybe.

I agree with the highlights but would add more of the reds(better w/ your eyes)than blonde
and definitely let us get a peek when it's all said and done:)

This haircut I LOVE!!!! You would look very cute in this style. I was wondering how short you wanted to go. I have short hair and have worn it that way for several years now. I am starting to grow it out a bit so I can do something different, but I am not going long again. Short hair is fun, my dh calls me a pixie (although at 6' I am hardly a pixie.) Good luck with whatever you choose and post a picture when you get it done.

how about something like this since your hair has some wave to it already.
http://www.thehairstyler.com/images/celebrity/Celebrity_153.jpg
the last thing you want to do is try to fight your natural texture and if you go with something that you ALWAYS have to straighten when your hair is curly, you're going to get frustrated.
my dh likes my hair long and you can see from my picture how much I care about THAT ROFL. he has this vision in his head and unfortunately due to the vast amount of hair on my head I just can't do it. it's thick, it's coarse, it's frizzy, and it when it's long it takes literally 45 min for me to dry it with a hairdryer, and then if I were to try to tame the frizz, add another 30 min with a straight iron. it's just nuts. And because its so coarse even if I try to just pin it up in a clip it's too much hair, and I feel like I have a block of seawead on my head and I look like one of those FLDS women with the big poof on top of my head. lol When I'd pony tail it up (if I could find a big enough pony tail holder) it would still be wet when I'd take it down at bed, wet hair, for 12 hours. Not pleasant. Plus it would frizz badly if I didn't dry it. So he can go on having this fantasy about long hair, but the reality is that he doesn't have to sit under pounds of hair sweating in the summer, trying to dry it.
So guys, be careful of what you wish for with hair. Yes, you may all think it's glorious, but I tell you, it sucks when your husband wants something and you just can't deliver. He knows now to not talk about it. lol.
So that's why I keep my hair short. Even as short as it is, it still takes me quite a while to blow dry it because it's just so unruly.

Ok, here are my after pictures. The first one is directly from the hair dressers. It was a bit traumatic. She cut it way shorter in the front then I wanted, and she originally didn't layer it. I swear to god I looked like Willard. So I told her she needed to fix it somehow. So she added layers to the front and top. And she set the part to the side. She left a lot of it in my face, which I love the look, just hate the feel.
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff196/charmed7up/P6010328-1.jpg
Then I went to my mom's house. She colored some blonde highlights, and then I attempted to put some red in chunky highlights into it. It came out ok, but I'm not too worried about it since red washes out pretty quickly. I actually wanted to take a shower and dry it right. This is air dried with a flat iron to take out some of the waves. It isn't how I like it, but pretty close.
http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff196/charmed7up/P6010339-1.jpg
I also pulled it back while it was wet and I like the way it looks, so I'm thinking I can gel it up and do that some times. It also looks pretty cool in a head band. And once it grows out a little I'll probably start spiking the back a little and maybe fix the front to the way I wanted it originally, which would be more length and a more dramatic angle towards the back.
Well, thanks for all the help. Let me know what you think of the new do!

Ok, these pictures sort of suck, so sorry if you can't tell the color. Plus I hate posing for pics. Maybe I'll get some done outside tomorrow in the natural light.
Good night everyone,

You've got guts, girl! I'm so scared to cut my hair short, but you've proven it can be done and look absolutely great!

Very very hip!
I thought you wanted a slight change, otherwise I would've said something different:rolleyes: I change haircuts like I change....well, never mind on that one:D
This time I'm trying to let it grow...it's been years since I've had it longer than the pic on the 'What to you look like?' thread...usually it's shorter, really short...I think the last time I had it longer I was 17.
Am I rambling? Sorry....Looks great! Spike it up in the back definitely!

I'll do more pics tonight. I soooo hate getting my picture taken. I'll ask hubby to take candids so I don't have to sit there and pose.
And yes Hubby noticed. :D He loved it. ;)

I'm endlessly entertained by the wildly diverging opinions of hair that men and women have. Katie Holmes looks like a boy in that picture.
