View Full Version : My wife fell down the stairs and hurt her foot

MY wife tripped over a shoe left on the stairs in our house and fell down about 6 stairs and hurt her left foot.:( I took her to the doctor last night and they did an x-ray but it didn't appear to show anything broken. Someone will be reviewing her x-rays today. Her foot doesn't look that bad. There is some swelling, though. She can't put any weight on it at all. She is getting around the house on crutches. I hope it is nothing serious and is just some pulled tendons or something. We will be going on vacation in a few weeks so I hope it is better by then because we will be doing a lot of walking.
I took today off work to help her out. I'd better get to my housework now.

Oh No! Keep foot elevated and iced. Ibuprofen round the clock as well for a few days. Should help with pain/inflamation.

I'm so sorry! Thank goodness she didn't do anything worse! If I were her, I would make sure I stayed off of that foot for a good two weeks or so and had someone taking care of me 24/7............ :D

Hoping that she feels better soon. I am sure who ever left the shoe there is feeling bad....In our house I always remind them, that is why it is called an "ACCIDENT." Even when my son crashed our boat a few weekends back. My older son was all upset at the one who crashed, and I reminded him that it was an accident. I know he didn't mean to do that...:)

Thanks for all the kid words and advice. I tried to pamper her but she really didn't stay in bed very long. There's nothing much wrong with her foot and it appears to be healing quickly. She's off crutches but is still hobbling around. I keep her foot wrapped up and that helps. I'll bet she'll be totally healed in a couple of weeks.

be glad it's not broken. I stepped on a pair of binnoculars the kids left on the front porch in March, my foot twisted just right, and I broke my foot. Had to have a cast for 6 weeks. Luckily, it didn't need surgery. Apparently, it's a very popular place to break your foot. Elevating and resting helped the most. Hope she's up and about soon.
