Child with Type 1 and Ulcerated colitis? HELP?

I’m searching the World Wide Web for some great answers! My boy was diagnosed with IBD (Ulcerated colitis) and put onto prednisolone (apparently typical for this syndrome), but two weeks later he has type 1 diabetes out of no where? No family member has had diabetes previously??? As you can see we’re absolutely confused and searching for answers as many doc’s are saying (whoa this kid is “unique”). As you can tell we are ABSOLUTELY confused!

Yep, Type 1 developing out of nowhere is very common. Just about every parent on this list was blind-sided by the diabetes daignosis. Initial denial, disbelief, confusion and anger are common as well.

There is usually some sort of condition that pushes the body over the edge and diabetes developes. In your child's case it was the Ulcerated colitis.

Is the IBD cleared up? Is he still taking prednisolone?
