How long did it take to get insurance approval?
I'm already going crazy...and I'm only two weeks from our script...
I'm also anxious about the approval process...I anticipate trouble although I'm praying it goes smoothly...
If you don't mind telling how your approval process went, I'd appreciate it!

Once Animas got all our paperwork from the doctor, I think it was only about 2-3 weeks. We are on B/C/B/S Empire Blue, and the are really pro-active. The whole process was handled by Animas, I never had to do anything with the insurance company. For us, it was all very smooth.

We had a long, frustrating wait. The insurance company, which had previously told me they DID cover pumps, then rejected our application for all but the supplies, saying they DIDN"T cover pumps. We scrambled around getting letters from our doctor, etc., and then finally I had an HR rep at my company investigate. She was told they DID cover pumps. THen it turned out that was an error, and they DON'T -- only the supplies.
It was good that I went through HR though because at that point we had two different written statements to the effect that pumps could be covered. So in the end, the insurance company ponied up for the full amount -- and sent us a letter saying, in effect, "don't ever ask us for another one."
All told --? We kicked things off in early December, and Aaron did his pump start over March Break, so about 3 months.

It took about 5 months. A long part of the wait was getting into the pump training class. They were pretty booked up. After we went through the class, the diabetes training center at the hospital along with the doctor's office took care of everything. I never had to do anything with the insurance company. The other part of the wait was that we couldn't book a pump start date until we actually had the pump in hand. So once we got the pump we still had to wait a few weeks until we could get in for a start date.
We knew the wait would be that long when we signed up for a pump, so we weren't discouraged about it or anything. That's just the way it was.

We are going through the proscess with Animus as well. I know it is long, and daunting. Keep waiting paitently ( I know, easy said, not done) it will come soon, and it will be worth the wait.

Ours took about 3 weeks. Thomas was lucky, he received a loaner pump until our insurance went through. So he started pumping right away. Well after we proved that we could count carbs, we needed 2 weeks worth of information. So about 5 weeks total.

It took longer for us to get the approval letter from the Endo to the Insurance. Our insurance had to have a letter of necessity for Jacob to be on the pump. Once the insurance received the letter, Animas shipped it out the next day.
We even got a call last week from Animas making sure everything was going good with Jacob.
