Hi everyone! I've been here for a little over a year, but am in no way new to the Diabetes scene. My family is riddled with both T1 and T2 history, mostly being T1 (my dad's dad, dad's sis, myself, my daughter, and my second cousin, so far).
I was diagnosed in 1991, at age 11. My daughter Grace was dx in 2005, just after her 5th birthday. Since her dx I have really struggled with my own care. It's gotten much better lately, since I've been given lots of donated test strips (that was my main issue for several years).
We both pump and love it. I am still working on my last few boxes of infusion sets for my old Minimed 508, but I also have a 715 (also donated from a friend who recently had transplants) in waiting. Grace uses a 522. She used to think pumps were only for grownups, till she met a 9yo girl last spring who pumps, and that was the clincher for her.
Dh and I also have a 4yo spitfire daughter named Mercy. She loves to pretend she has D, and often at mealtimes she'll inform me what her blood sugar level was, and then proceed to ask how many grams for her food. :p Bittersweet!
Feel free to ask me anything, I am VERY open and would love it if I could help anyone understand anything better. I'm still learning too, so don't ever feel like a question is silly!
