Well, both my daughter and son woke up with mild diarrhoea - so it is probably a bug of some sort.
What is the rule of thumb, if any, for mild cases of diarrhoea regarding insulin?
Thanks in advance!

With diarrhea we generally push liquids with carbs and check ketones every 2 hours. If we see lows, we stop bolusing for food and do corrections after the fact. We can have days of not needing to bolus much at all following a stomach bug.
Your endo probably has sick day guidelines.

well, usually my daughter needs less insulin with any stomach bug. Her insulin needs can sometimes change for up to a month following a stomach bug. They still need insulin though because even with low numbers they can develop ketones quickly. Try and get her to eat mild things with carbs like lollipops, popsicles with sugar, so that you can keep her bg numbers up and are able to keep giving her insulin. Give lots of fluids. Make sure you check her ketones. Keep in touch with her doctor also.
Hope they feel better soon:cwds:

Too add on what every one else has said, you might try to go to the store and get the children's Imodium AD.. That seems to help with the diarheea alot.. I hope that everyone starts to feeling better..

Thanks, you guys rock!
One thing I just want to say - and it has already been said - if keytones start to come up - give high carb drinks - like gatorade or soda - to get insulin in her.
