I'm not real sure how this happened. First, we changed Ryan's site last night and put it in his left thigh. He was a little high when the site was changed and we bolused. I went to bed but DH checked him later and he was over 300. Bolused and checked several times in 2 hrs. Didn't wake me until he came to bed and said he'd just bolused. I got up 2 hrs later and checked 409! WTH...Usually I recheck but I didn't this time...call it lack of sleep, exhaustion, etc. Just figured it correlated to DH numbers. So, I changed site to belly, give bolus of 3.2 units although pump called for 3.45...30 min later 180!!!!!! WTH????? We got lucky ...2 cups chocolate milk with LOTS of chocolate 30 min later 217. Then 30 min 200 and gave gingerale. Pump was suspended during this. This started at 230 am by 530 am he was 289. I'll take that. All I could think of was having that overbolus of novolog and having him drop dangerously low. We haven't had to use glucagon yet and this really scared us. Poor Ryan, he was soooo tired this morning. He wanted so bad to stay home and sleep. Just thank heavens he's okay.
