Just thought I would throw this out there for anyone who is thinking about taking their kids to see this movie. Overall it is pretty good, but much darker and more violent than the first one. The movie opens with a woman giving birth and screaming loudly. There is a scene where someone is decapitated. And there are several big battle scenes with a lot of swordplay and people getting hacked and stabbed, but very litte blood. There is also a scene with a harpy and another evil creature who look and act very scary and I saw several kids (mine included) coveing their eyes.

That being said, the first thing that Danielle said when we got home was "I want to go see that movie again!!" It is rated PG so I guess the bottom line is you need to gauge your own child's tolerance for violence and a few scary scenes. And it is pretty long, about 2 hours and 20 minutes. On the plus side it is beautifully filmed and has some neat special effects. Anyway, just thought I would pass along this info.

Great. We try to keep the violence down, and my son really enjoyed the first one. We'll have to wait for it to come out on DVD so we can preview it first.

Thanks for the heads up.

we saw it this weekend.. it was on the violent side BUT that being said there was NO blood, or hardly any.. Not sure if the girls understood some of the killings (there are a few battles..) they implied a lOT but not sure the girls got what was going on. They LOVED the movie, besides being a bit scared during some parts.. its a dark movie.. meaning the lighting is dark.. and there are a few more battles than the first one.. there was no swearing (that I can think of ) no showing of guts, or heads falling off.. I think Disney did a decent job with this one.

Carson and I saw it this weekend, too. Definitely more Lord of the Rings style, but it was VERY close to the book. Chronicles of Narnia are my favorite books in the world -- but Prince Caspian was my least favorite book out of all of them, mostly because the entire book is about a war! But like the pp said, there was hardly any blood, just a lot of war violence. Carson LOVED it. And I enjoyed it too, when I wasn't too worried about the 60 grams of popcorn I bolused him for!!! The theater had free refills on popcorn and pop and Carson insisted that I take advantage of it!!! I totally guessed on the popcorn, and it turns out I should have bolused more because he was at 288 after the movie!!

Hi Brenda,
Yes, I hope people don't stay away from this movie because of my "review", that was not my intention. I just wanted to let people know what I thought about it. As I said, Danielle loved it also and wants to go see it again.

As for the popcorn issue....I wasn't even going to say anything because I am still feeling bad about it. I tried to figure out the carbs on a "small" movie popcorn and the best I could come up with was 30 grams. I gave Danielle a shot in the car before we went in. We have not been to a movie in a long time and I was pretty surprised how big a "small" popcorn really is. Not to mention that 3 small popcorns cost almost as much as the tickets themselves! Anyway, I clearly screwed up the carbs because she was over 300 after the movie and I spent the rest of the day and night kicking myself. Oh well, live and learn.

I read 'The Chronicles of Narnia' many centuries ago :D, and I love the fantasy world so much. I also read 'The Hobbit' and the 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy, and was in awe with the story, the characters, etc.

The I saw the movies 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' and the 'Lord of the Rings' Trilogy and, as an adult, I could not have imagined being a kid and not being scared.

Good thing you pointed out that it has 'disturbing' scenes...it's weird how, when I read these books, I was not afraid...but then again, I was a teen...so I guess for younger kids it's much different.

I know I made no sense in this post...sorry...:o

My 10-year-old's class had a field trip to see this movie today and we just got home. It was an EXCELLENT movie--much better than the first one IMO. It was fairly true to the book, with a few exceptions. Movies just can't be as detailed as books, unfortunately.

There was a lot of violence, but I felt it was tastefully done. They didn't actually show most of the killings, but pulled the camera away or the person/thing killed just fell over. Very little blood and no gore. No profanity whatsoever, no sexual innuendos at all. There was one kiss at the end, but it was short.

The birthing scene is dark and kinda creepy at the beginning, and the scene where the White Witch is wanting to be freed is creepy as well.

I considered taking my almost-7-year-old to see it but I don't think she'd be ready for it yet. Some in her class saw it over the weekend and enjoyed it, but I think I'll wait for her.

We went Friday afternoon with 9 of Shannon's friends to celebrate her 11th birthday. Afterwards we went to a local pizza place for pizza and cake. When we got to the pizza place she tested and was 290 - I also guessed at 30 grams for the small popcorn! By bedtime she was 160 so guess I got the correction and pizza and cake right!
The girls all loved the movie. Even the few who had not seen the first one.

Don't forget that it's filmed in New Zealand - my country.
