Thanks to bz'smom for introducing me to this community!! I am a brand new mom to a child with JD. My daughter, Kylie, is 4 years old. She was diagnosed on May 15, 2008. We just got home from the hospital last night.

Things are going okay. Actually, they are going very well considering. She seems to really get it and knows not to eat or drink anything (except water) without talking to us first. She has her list of "free" things to snack on as she really wants to avoid any additional shots for snacks right now. The giving of the shots is improving and is becoming less traumatic for her (and us!).

My emotions are so up and down. I feel like there are some positives as to the timing of the diagnosis (I can be with her a lot more right now), and that we found it without any damaging symptoms showing. However, it's a scary and complete change of life. Sometimes I feel totally overwhelmed!

I have been blessed with many great family and friends who are completely supporting us. And bz'smom, Brenda, and her DH have been a HUGE support and have checked in several times. I feel so good knowing they are only a phone call away.

I can already tell this is going to be a great community to be a part of. Thanks to each of you for your part in helping others. It really helps you feel like you're not alone.

Bless your heart. My baby was recently diagnosed as well, and the whole thing hit pretty soon after. It's rough. I'm amazed at how well she is adapting, when it felt like my whole world was falling apart. If it hadn't been for the strong people here, I would have crumbled.

We're here for you. Good to have you with us!
