Today is Brandon's birthday & received bad news from a friend...

Today started out great for Brandon's 8th birthday. I woke him up with 'do you want to go to McD's for breakfast?' I love the huge smile and hug he gave me! He's been asking for a while now to go for breakfast, since we drive by the McD's to drop him & his sister off at school.

When I got home, I received a phone call from a friend of ours. They are headed to the hospital with their 4 yr old daughter. Her blood gluclose was in the 600's. My heart is just breaking for them. It brings back all of the emotions from when we were there with Brandon. Please keep them in your prayers.

It will still be a great birthday for Brandon - I will make sure of that, but our friends will be in the back of my mind...:cwds:

I'm so sorry about your friends. At least they have you...having been through a diagnosis and the first early days I am always so happy to "help" in any way I can someone going through the first few days, weeks months.

Yeah reading another new diagnosis still gives me goosebumps and a punch to the heart. Will that ever go away? Even when I think I'm putting that time in the past it still jumps up.:( I'm so sorry they are having to go through this. But they are lucky to have you there to help them. We should all have been so lucky huh?

It is very sad for your friend's daughter. I'm sure they know they can count on you for support...and we all know how important that is, especially in the beginning. My thoughts are with them too. Brings back memories for sure...

Hello. I'm Brenda's friend. You are right that we are so lucky to have them. It is such a relief knowing that someone knows how we are feeling right now.

I'll post more later and introduce myself in that forum as well. As you might imagine, we didn't sleep well last night and our brains are on overload.
