Last night a group of 10 mothers of children with type 1 diabetes got together at a restaurant. Four of us post on this board and I had never met outside of the CWD forums. There was an instant connection. Warmest hugs were shared. We practically closed the place down as the conversation flowed effortlessly until nearly 11:00 p.m.. The time flew by. We're already looking forward to connecting again.
Jeff, I hope you are forever mindful of how many bonds have been made in real life thanks to your initial efforts in cyberspace and your family's involvement with the diabetes community. Your kindness is immeasurable.

i've always felt that instant bond when i meet another parent; they just know.

It was awesome!!! Now we just need to get everyone online! It was so GREAT to finally meet you, Ellen, as well as DeannasMom. Can barely wait for the next one! :D

Oh Ellen you are so lucky!! I wish I could of been there..this is the only support I have is coming here...There are support groups in NJ but they are too far south of me or too far North of me (about 50 min each way)

Rosemary, how do you feel about creating a Jersey Shore social group on CWD to find more more moms? (I used to spend summer days at Bradley Beach...and walk to Asbury Park - many moons ago)

Our get together was oh so wonderful!!!! Ellen you are truly an amazing person I knew you were just from knowing you on this forum, but after meeting you last night...OMG!!:D The instant connection is an understatment...Marisa, I just love you , you are so down to earth and wondeful!!even tho we were all meeting in person for the first time, It truly felt like we have all been together since DX, Thank you JEFF for this place. What you have done here is without a doubt a miracle

I unfortunately didn't get ANY of the other's email addresses but I was hoping to get an email from Esther who was the gal who originally sent me the invite. I will share whatever I'll get! It am looking so forward to our next gettogether!! :)

I have been talking non stop to my co -workers about our meeting..Lisa, and Nancy it was so wonderful meeting you as well as Marisa and Ellen. It was the most relaxed I have been in ...well in a very long time. Of course that could be the medication:eek: lol

Barbara, Thanks soooooo much for the emails with 504 info! Now I need to get to work prepping for Tessa's Kgarten start in August. so much to do, right? This coming week we have all of Colleen's graduation festivities, and then I'll buckle down.

Your very welcome:D Good luck and remember, just go in there with your 504 and don't ask for them to implement it, tell them this is what they are going to do, keep firm but pleasent..your child has rights and don't let them try to tell you that a 504 is not needed. an IHP (individual health care plan) is wonderful but it Will not protect her like a 504 will. I look so forward to meeting you again!!!

Lisa, I have Mia's 504 here from this year. I don't have it on my computer but I could fax it to you if you give me a fax number. We will review the info for the coming year but don't anticipate a lot of changes (other than integrating the Navigator CGMS in it once we have it). In 3rd grade there will be more tests, so we will have to readress that then.
Let me know! :-)
PS I could also bring you a copy to the Camp CoralKids orientation?
