While we're on the topic of acknowledging restaurants for a good job, I am please to announce that I am more than impressed with a manager at Wendy's here in Moncton. A few months ago, I lost the Wendy's nutritional info that we carried in the bag with us, so I asked the cashier for a new one. She said that they didn't have any at the moment. I said, oh, I guess I'll have to estimate how many carbs that are in the oranges. (Emma prefers oranges instead of fries). So we were eating and the manager came to our table with a freshly printed info sheet that he got off the internet. I thanked him profusely. The next time we went to that same restaurant, there was a professionally printed poster in a glass frame with all the nutritional info on it. And went to another Wendy's in Moncton and they had one too. I don't know if that was timing, or if it was that manager's doing. Then I noticed McDonald's doing the same thing.

I also like Wendy's - and ours also has the poser - so maybe it is a North East thing ;)...but, I wish our manager knew if the tortilla strips were counted in the carbs for the salad...darn tortillas

As a regional manager in the service industry, one of the things I look for in managers is something, anything, that shows they are willing to go the extra mile. Call Wendy's and tell them how much what he/she did was appreciated, and tell them we all said "Thanks!"

I'm with Brensdad. Even better, write a letter to both the store and the regional manager. It may seem overly formal but things like that matter a great deal.

I was sitting in the parking lot at a fast food place (I think it was McDonald's), and I saw the whole reward process for a job well done. An employee was told to come out to the parking lot, and he was given a speech about going the extra mile for customers and how much his extra efforts were appreciated. He was also rewarded with a little plaque. The employee was beaming from ear-to-ear, even after the manager went back inside. It was neat to see this, and I am happy to give written praise when employees go "above and beyond". There is usually a comment box on the counter in fast food restaurants and/or an 800# to call. Kind words and praise go a long way...

Yes, they do :-). We love to get letters about our employees doing something right - the complainers are always louder than the praisers!

And all Dairy Queen restaurants, by the way, have beautiful nutrition posters that should be hanging in there somewhere. If yours doesn't have one, ask about it. They send a new one every year!

There are also nutrition guides in pamphlet form that should be available.
