Top Chef Sam was back today as a judge and he mentioned that he is a diabetic and that it is hard to get healthy food. So the challenge was to prepare diabetic friendly dishes.:)
To bad he did not mention that he was type 1, but we can not have everything:D

I came on to see if anyone mentioned this. I was watching too, it's one of my favorite shows on TV and everyone knows not to call during the show because I won't answer! I was excited to see them mention diabetes and raise awareness of the need of a healthy lifestyle. But, like you, I would have liked to heard him say he was T1.

Me, too. I was hoping for a little more "plugging" of T1 or something from Sam. Even a little blurb at the end of the show about his involvement with JDRF would have been good. Hey, we'll take what we can get.

Top Chef will be repeated on Bravo many times between now and next Wednesday night before the next episode. BRAVOtv.com : Top Chef : Season 4 : Home (http://www.bravotv.com/Top_Chef/season/4/index.php)
It would have been helpful if they mentioned people with type 1 appreciate knowing the nutritional information per serving so they can take insulin accordingly.
O/t but how do you feel about this season in general? (I like Stephanie the most but they have yet to select a female top chef, correct?)

I believe Sam mentioned he was T1 during his season. I got angry at the one with the shrimp when he/she said, "They told me the shrimp were high in cholesterol: but they only said watch fat and carbs. Cholesterol wasn't on the list, so I'm not going to worry about it." Oooo.
I adore Richard. He's the only competitor to have been on both Top Chef and Iron Chef. He has a restaurant in Atlanta that I would love to go to.

I like Richard and Antonia. Sam was my favorite when he was on
O/T, but I like Richard the best right now. Dale is very talented, but he only cooks one style of food and he's got a horrible attitude. Lisa, the woman that said she wasn't going to worry about cholesterol, doesn't seem as talented as the others and she made me angry pointing out Andrew's mistake last night. Spike doesn't seem to have the same level of skill as many of the people left and I think he or Lisa be going home next week. Antonia and Stephanie are both very talented and I would be glad to see either win...especially since it would be the first female Top Chef!
Sorry....as you can probably tell, I'm a huge fan of the show!

I agree that Richard is probably the best chef right now, but I still hope that Antonia wins, we need a female winner:D she is very nice. I don't like Lisa at all, I like Spike's personality though. Richard seams very boring to me, oh, is the show not about personality???:p;)

I love this show also and I was glad they brought up D but I also wish they could have said something about the different types because we she said that obesity and diabetes are on the rise in America I'm sure most people watching assumed the two are related, when we all know that is not true of type 1. Ps I was glad to see Sam back I think he is very cute :p

I LOVE this show, but have yet to watch this episode. I liked Sam from his season, I have more reason to like him now. I want a woman winner too. Time for a girl to win.
