We just got this meter for Cam. We had been using the same one since he was dx'd (Contour) and we wanted a new one, a nurse at the endo clinic recommended we switch to this because of the lights, how small it is etc. Luckily we had no problems switching insurance wise, they paid for new strips and the meter no questions asked.
My questions are:
Those that have it do you like it?? Are there any quirks to it? Are there any skins for it I can get online? I read that wal-mart in the USA has them but the one here looked at me like I had two heads when I asked.

We have always used a Freestyle product for DD (last 7 years) and recently replaced all with the Lite. I like it. I like the back and forth feature (where you can go back and forth between numbers instead of having to start all over at the beginning if you miss something). I did email the company to see if they had skins - they emailed back that they don't make them. Could not find any on line. I did buy some at Walmart here in MD.

Thanks for the link, the sellers store has a race flag pattern one I know Cameron will love! I am really liking the meter so far. We had an older model contour that took 15 seconds to read, the lite does it in 5. And the scroll up and down option is great:-)

We LOVE it, but I have no idea about skins, I've never looked for them sorry. You will love the meter.:D

It's by and large my favorite meter. No weird quirks, really, except it doesn't suck in the blood as fast as the contour.

Yes, we like it. Two thoughts
1. Because it uses only battery I think the battery runs down faster than the Flash, and
2. to illuminate the screen before you put the strip in (like middle of the night testing when you can't see which end to insert) press the "C" then the light button and the back light will give you enough light to see which end to stick in the meter.

We had been using One Touch Ultra for YEARS and YEARS, but have switched over to the freestyle flash. I love it and so does my 16 year old. We have used many a meters in our 13 plus years with diabetes, and so far we like this one the best. As for skins, we have never looked. He doesn't care since he is 16 and it is just a meter to him. I will admit, when he was younger he would have loved to have had options like skins, but back then meters took about 3 - 4 minutes, and was a lot bigger of course. We could have used a book cover for skins! JUST kidding, but in response to your questions, we love the Freestyle!
It's the only meter we've ever used, since we're relatively new to this whole D thing. It was chosen for us because it's very easy to see and doesn't require any coding. (It was supposed to help my reluctant family be more willing to help care for Carter...not happened as of yet though!)
Also, I love the memory feature and how it gives you the averages for the past 7, 14, and 30 days, but I'm sure there's others out there that do that as well.
I remember my friend in school had a meter that took ages and he needed a lot more blood. Carter seems to mind the finger pokes less than the shots, so something must be right.

We have three of them. :D I love it. I use the light all the time during night time checks. And I don't have to worry about the coding when I drop him off with grandma, or at school etc.

I love the lite!!!!!!!!!!:D:D:D
I've seen the skins at my walmart-think they're about 1.50? They are in the D section. ours are in a tiny cardboard box.

Does anybody know if they have any trade in deals for other meters or any type of give away. It seem like One Touch is giving away meters all the time for filling out surveys etc....
My mom works at a doctor's office and the Novo rep just gave her a meter. She also gave us a card saying she'd give us samples for it and also Novolog whenever she could. She and my mom have known each other for a while though, but it might be worth you looking into.

When I'm going to test Seth in the dark, I set the strip in part way in the light..Then as I enter the room I shove it the rest of the way in, wait a couple of seconds, then hit the button for the light. It's so bright, I can use it as a flash light. I have to block the light from his eyes so I don't wake him. I think your right abut the battery not lasting as long, but I can live with that:D

Don't know about for other meters but if you have any of the other freestyle meters they will trade those for the Lite. We traded in 2 Flashes for 2 Lites, ask your endo for free ones too. We got one that way and also, they run specials on their site for free ones often. I've gotten 2 that way. Can we say..... I LOVE THE FREESTYLE LITE?? lol
The only meter I've paid for was the Precision Xtra on sale for $9.99 @ Walgreens for the ketone testing capability.

I love my freestyle lite, for a ton of reasons...my biggest is when they tested his meter at his last endo appointment it was the only one that was 100% correct!
We tested our back up one touch mini which was 15% difference and both of our lites and they were 100%. I was happy. My SIL tested Aiden Aviva at there last appointment and it was 25% off:eek: She was not happy
