Hi all
My name is Renaee
My son was dx'd 9/07. His blood sugar at that time was 1520. He had to be life lined to Riley Children's Hospital in Indinapolis, Indiana. He spent 3 days in ICU then two days on the pedi wing. Those were the scariest five days of my entire life. He is doing very well now. J currently is on injections 3 times daily of Novalog. We count carbs. His ratio at present is 1/8 at B-fast, 1/25 at lunch, and 1/8 at dinner. He also is on Lantus 15 units at bedtime. I'm hoping to get J on the pumping very soon, but he isn't showing much interest at this time. His endro team is great.
We live in Southern Indiana. I have been married for almost 29 years (wow that's a long time) We have 4 children, 3 boys and a girl, ages 26, 24, 21 and our youngest is 10. Our oldest is married to his high school sweetheart and the other two are college students still living at home. My daughter graduates this year with her masters in Speech Language Pathology. They are all great kids.
I have learned so much here from everyone and want to extend a BIG THANKS to all.

Hi:) I just replied to you on my intro, because this wasn`t posted yet, LOL.

Sounds like you had a really scary dx experience. Ours was a lot gentler. My son had been going to the bathroom tons, and was thirsty all the time. So we took him in. He was about 600.

Nice to meet you:)

I agree with the previous posters - that time of diagnosis must have been very scary. Em was high - not quite that high - when she was diagnosed and we had a wonderfully short hospital stay.
I'm glad he's doing well now.
